    Troubleshooting

    1- Cannot connect to board.

      1. Try removing the mini-USB connector from SPB board and reconnect it. If you hear the "ba-ding" sound then the system has detected the USB connection.
      2. If you have disconnected and reconnected the mini-USB cable and were still unsuccessful, try a different USB port on your computer.
      3. If you have tried all the ports on your computer and have access to a USB hub try connecting the SPB board directly to the hub and subsequently to your computer.

    2- Status LED not lit.

      1. Please ensure that the mini-USB cable is connected to the board.
      2. Ensure that the mini-US connector is firmly soldered on the board.
      3. Try changing the USB port on your computer.

    3- LEDs not blinking.

      1. The USB cable may not be completely plugged into the SPB connector or the Computer connector.
      2. The code loaded on the board may have been changed from the original shipping code. Download the appropriate file for your board, unzip and click on the **.hws file.
Please Note: for the YH8SPB board if you will need to disconnect and reconnect the board just after HEW opens. For the YM16CSPB, YR8CSPB and YH8SPB you may have to choose a driver. There will be two dialog boxes that appear telling you that the connection is lost, after the dialog box that states "Choose a Driver" simply press the pull down arrow and choose the "Renesas USB driver" after the two boxes fill in automatically simply press the close button. If choosing the "Renesas USB driver" doesn’t work the first time simply disconnect and reconnect your SPB board. The repeat the procedure as before.

When you get to a box that states "You must restart or Exit" simply disconnect and reconnect your SPB board.

    3.  Ensure that the mini-US connector is firmly soldered on the board.

    4.  Try changing the USB port on your computer.

4- LED blink rate does not change.

The Light Sensor is between the pushbutton and the target micro.

      1. Ensure that proper code is loaded on your board. Perhaps try reverting back to the original factory code as shown in the "LEDs not blinking" section.
      2. Ensure that you light sensor if firmly attached to your board.
      3. Perhaps the Light sensor is damaged.

     5- LEDs continue to blink.

The LEDs will only stop blinking WHILE you are pressing down on the pushbutton.

      1. Try pressing the pushbutton several times. If this works their may have been dirt in the button.
      2. Ensure that proper code is loaded on your board. Perhaps try reverting back to the original factory code as shown in the "LEDs not blinking" section.
      3. Ensure the pushbutton is firmly soldered to the board.

7- Cannot connect to board during verify.

      1. If you are asked to "Choose a driver" press "OK" and on the next dialog window simply press the pull down arrow and choose "Renesas USB Driver". When selected the two fields below should automatically fill in with information. Once the information is filled in please press the "close" button. If this does not work disconnect and reconnect the mini-US cable from the SPB board and try choosing the driver again.
      2. Ensure that there are no dialog boxes in your task bar. If there are maximize them and take appropriate action.

     8- USB drivers details.

    Coming soon..

     9- Adobe Flash install error.

Sometimes Adobe Flash fails to install correctly. Microsoft's MSI Cleanup Tool can be used to uninstall older versions of Adobe Flash which can become "stuck" in the Windows Registry. You can find Microsoft's MSI Cleanup Tool here.
