Does FoUSB work with R8C/1A, 1B or any 2x devices?
No.
FoUSB does not support the newer members of the R8C family. It does work with the 1x devices, except for 1A and 1B. You may be able to use the FoUSB to download programs to some of the newer devices by picking an equivalent memory mapped device from the original 1x series.
Where can I look for FoUSB troubleshooting tips?
There's still a good bit of info posted othe Renesas Website:
The left side collumn has configuration info, along with memory maps and other stuff. You will also note that there's a FAQ link on this page that has lots of Q and As posted.
Where are the drivers for FoUSB located?
After installing the software, (if you installed in the default locations), the drivers will be in C:\Renesas\FoUSB\USB Drivers\
What options do I have from 3rd Parties?
Segger makes a nice M16C family programmer that works with or without a PC!

This device holds the program in it's own memory so field reprogramming of devices is much simpler, and doesn't require a serial or USB connection when on-site at the installation.
Direct Insight sells a Debugger/Programmer that can operate stand alone. It works with a wide variety of SH chips (SH1, SH2, SH3, SH4, etc.)
