16-bit, high speed ADCs for Renesas Boards

Posted by Pavak Shah at April 08. 2008

Hey guys,

I was referred to this website by a technical sales guy who thought I might be able to get some better info than what he was able to give me. Basically I need to build a high resolution, high speed data aquisition system using a microcontroller. Specifically I was interested in 16-bit at least 10MSPS ADC capabilities. I know none of the renesas boards have this class of ADC built-in but I was wondering if anyone knew of daughter cards which can be purchased or schematics for an add-on.

Thanks!

Hi Pavak,

It's been a while but I've used both an H8SX and an M16C/62P to drive an Analog Devices AD7400 and AD9240. It was pretty straightforward to connect and program. One was a parallel interface and the other was serial. I don't recall running them all the way to 10MSPS, but a quick check on an MCU datasheet should help figure out if the core can handle it.
